Breaking Free from Imposter Syndrome: Taking the Wheel on Your Journey to Your Best Life

If you asked if I thought I had imposter syndrome, I would say no. But if you asked me on a deeper level I might have said, without acknowledging the reality and gravity of the confession, that more often than not I ended up not pursuing dreams because I didn't feel good enough, or things weren't perfect yet. I didn't have a Google map-level journey planned out. I didn't try or speak about something because I wasn't an expert or naturally intelligent or competent. That my achievements did count because I had to ask for help.

So maybe I did suffer from imposter syndrome, not to say that I have found a total cure. But I am learning that there is grace and I have something that is completely and utterly unique to me, that the word needs and will be missed if I allow my insecurities and shortcomings to determine my value.

It's too easy to get overwhelmed and fearful of making the mistake of not choosing the right thing. So then we decide to sit, not progressing, not growing but trapped in the cycle of indecision and ultimately losing out on the reward of trusting and pursuing or making a wrong turn, and learning that you can always pivot.

It's impossible to move a parked car versus a car that is already moving, or even still without the handbrake applied. It's a lot easier to push something that's already moving than to move something that is moving in a direction. In the same way, you can only find out you have taken a wrong turn after taking it, or be corrected after making the mistake.

The satnav can only redirect a moving vehicle, unless you are willing to try and take daily steps toward your dreams, goals, and aspirations you will never know if you're going in the right direction. The reassurance is that your satnav or google maps never stops working because you took a wrong turn, instead it takes into account where you made a wrong turn and calculates the best route to take to either get you back on your original path or calculate a whole new route based on your current position.

So ask yourself, what is stopping you from living your ideal life?

If you never try then you fail from conception. But 1 step a day from January amounts to 365 steps in December.
